HealthPoint Family Medicine Residency Program

Training Environment of Our Program

As a Teaching Health Center, we are proud to be a community-based and mission-driven residency program at HealthPoint Community Health Centers, which is dedicated to serving individuals who may otherwise lack access to healthcare. Our commitment to equity is woven into every aspect of our training environment. HealthPoint’s patient demographics reflect this mission:

- 96% of our patients live below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line.

- 70% are from racial or ethnic minority backgrounds.

- 30% require interpreter services to access care.

For over 50 years, HealthPoint has been a cornerstone of the King County community, developing innovative approaches to support our patients in overcoming socioeconomic, linguistic, and cultural barriers. Residents in our program benefit from a comprehensive training environment that includes hands-on experience in the outpatient clinic setting and at local hospitals. This dual training approach allows residents to develop the skills to provide high-quality, integrated care in diverse settings.

We are a new residency, having received our initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education in 2024, and are excited to build a training program rooted in our local community and dedicated to our mission. However, many of our staff and faculty bring many years of resident education experience.

Clinical Locations: HealthPoint Community Health Centers

For over 50 years, HealthPoint has been a cornerstone of the King County community, developing innovative approaches to support our patients in overcoming socioeconomic, linguistic, and cultural barriers. There are more than 20 HealthPoint clinics in King County, and our residents are based at our Auburn North clinic, where they will see patients covering the full spectrum of Family Medicine, from newborn care to geriatric medicine, obstetrics, refugee care, substance use disorder care, and everything in between. We have integrated behavioral health care, social services, case management, and a pharmacy on site, and dental services are available at our other clinic location in Auburn. In addition to our robust and holistic care at every clinic site, HealthPoint also offers specialty clinics in geriatrics and sports medicine at two clinic sites, where residents will rotate to hone their skills in those areas.

Clinical Locations: MultiCare Auburn Medical Center

Our primary hospital site, MultiCare Auburn Medical Center has been serving the patients of Auburn for over 100 years. Associated with the MultiCare system since 1949, MultiCare Auburn Medical Center offers a broad range of specialty and inpatient services. This is where our family medicine inpatient service is located, and the Family Birth Center is where we deliver our obstetric patients. Our R2s do their emergency medicine rotation in this ED, and several of our ambulatory specialty rotations are sponsored through their specialists.

Clinical Locations: Seattle Children’s Hospital

Seattle Children’s Hospital is a nationally recognized provider of pediatric care, and a regional referral center for much of the Northwest. This is where our R1s complete their inpatient pediatrics rotation, and their specialists provide education and care for our patients.

Clinical Locations: Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital

Mary Bridge Children's Hospital is the children’s hospital associated with MultiCare Health System. They provide multiple specialty services and inpatient care for children in Pierce and in south King County. Their emergency department is the location of our 3rd year pediatric emergency medicine rotation.
