King County Includes $750,000 for HealthPoint Tukwila Commons in Biennial Budget

Share

On November 18, 2025, the Metropolitan King County Council unanimously approved the 2026-2027 King County biennial budget. HealthPoint is excited to share that this budget includes $750,000 for HealthPoint Tukwila Commons, our landmark initiative to expand high-quality, expert health care in the Tukwila community.

At a time when federal policies and actions are limiting our community’s ability to access the health services they deserve, HealthPoint is proud to double down on our mission and commitment to serve as a vital community safety net for King County.

About Tukwila Commons

HealthPoint Tukwila Commons is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform community health in King County and the Tukwila community. Once completed, the first phase of the project will deliver:

  • An expanded HealthPoint clinic to serve as a one-stop-shop for culturally appropriate medical, dental, behavioral health, naturopathic care, substance use, and pharmacy services.

  • Capacity to serve more than 8,000 patients each year, double the capacity at our existing facility in Tukwila.

  • Onsite, integrated social services, case management, and language access tools.

  • An early childhood development center for birth to pre-K – to be operated by our partner, the YMCA of Greater Seattle.

  • Space for future program expansion, allowing for Tukwila Commons to grow with the needs of the Tukwila community.

Partnership with the Metropolitan King County Council

Our work to fully fund and develop this transformative project continues, but this progress would not be possible without the partnership of the King County Council. We would especially like to express our gratitude to:

  • Former Metropolitan King County Councilmember De'Sean Quinn, whose support during his time on the council was instrumental to making this investment a reality for HealthPoint and the Tukwila community. Councilmember Quinn represented District 5, which includes Tukwila, SeaTac, Renton, Des Moines, Kent, and Normandy Park. We look forward to working with District 5’s new Councilmember, Steffanie Fain, as this project continues.

  • Metropolitan King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda of District 8, which includes Tukwila, Burien, West Seattle, Vashon Island, and downtown Seattle. Councilmember Mosqueda is a long-time champion of accessible and affordable health care for King County’s residents, and her support was essential to securing funding for Tukwila commons in this year’s budget, as well as in the 2025 King County budget.

Getting to the Finish Line

HealthPoint broke ground on phase one of the Tukwila Commons on May 31, 2025 and plans to open our doors in the fall of 2026. This $750,000 investment is critical to ensuring that we can remain on schedule to deliver on our promise of expanded health care services to the Tukwila community.

The HealthPoint Tukwila Commons is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for King County, but we can’t do it alone. Tukwila Commons’ supporters range across all levels of government and the private sector – including, individual supporters, corporate sponsors, and private foundations.
