Intern Individual Supervision
Interns receive two hours of formal individual supervision per week with their primary supervisors. All primary supervisors are licensed clinical psychologists with a minimum of 2 years post-licensure experience. While in clinic, supervision and oversight are always available from staff psychologists. Interns also will receive guidance and consultation from medical providers and other primary care team members. Supervision is flexible and oriented around the learning interests of our interns, while at the same time ensuring that basic professional competencies are achieved. Our supervision model is developmental, student-centered, and integrated. Quarterly supervisors will shadow interns in order to have direct observation of each intern in order to assist with evaluations and providing feedback in supervision.
Group Supervision
Interns receive three hours weekly of formal group supervision. The first two hours of supervision is focused on patient presentations and consultations around a clinical topic that is chosen by the supervisor leading group supervision. The last hour of group supervision is a didactic presented by the supervisor on a diversity or clinical supervision topic. Our Behavioral Health staff includes 20 full-time psychologists who work at our medical clinics and school-based health clinics. Our entire staff of Behavioral Health Consultations rotate providing group supervision to our interns, thus interns are exposed to a breathe of expertise, clinical experience, and interest within our team at HealthPoint.
Monthly Didactics
Interns attend a once-a-month 9-hour didactic training on a wide range of topics that help their clinical, personal, and professional development. Interns at HealthPoint and at the other National Psychology Training Consortium sites, Community Health of Central Washington and Yakima Valley Farmworkers Clinic, attend the didactics together. The didactics are held at our HealthPoint Administrative Offices or Community Health of Central Washington in Yakima. The presenters for these didactics are Behavioral Health experts from HealthPoint, Community Health of Central Washington, and/or experts from around the country.
